Default Weekend Event Idea “Increased Experience”

I posted this on a thread in Riverside but then it got closed because of a repeated subject. So I thought maybe here I could get some support for this idea here. I proposed the following

An Experience Weekend in Pre-searing (or every where) all experience that is gained off of creatures is increased by 5 levels Example - level 1 creature will give exp like it is a level 6

It would give survivors more of a chance to make there goal, and more importantly it would give pre searing characters trying for the title a better option then wasting energy on death leveling, It would allow them for a weekend to play for the title. You still would have to go across the wall for it, but at least you could play for it. Your thoughts

Having just a pre-searing weekend is very bias to all the players who don't own Prophecies. I have no problem with the idea as long as it doesn't allow people to get LDoA and Survivor. I don't think they are ment to have both on the same char.

On a plus note it stops the weekend from bieng another double fame weekend so more scrubs can get there bambi's and wolf's

This idea sucks for anybody who has played the game for an extended period of time. What am I supposed to do with 10 level 20 characters on an increased experience weekend?

This suggestion is for survivors and LDoA people only.

What do you need experience or skill points in pre-Searing for?
Nothing.

Meh every weekend even is gonna exclude some people. There is no way around it. Some people do HA, some ppl AB, some people want all skill caps. Plus, you have an option of creating a new chara to benefit from the weekend. I am /signed. However, I agree with Songbringer. It still should be done so that people are not getting LDoA and Survivor.

Almost all weekend events seem to be title motivated.

You can make Arena Net happy and buy a new character slot…just kidding (I know to some this would be a event of no interest but it will to others)

Edit - On the subject of Survivor and Defender titles (would it matter since you can only display one at a time) A-net could program it so that if you have both of these on your character that only one would count towards the KOBD title track. Just an idea

I don't want them to waste time coding something as useless as making sure only one of those counts when they could be coding a new cool zone or fixing the already crappy glitches and bugs already around. Why put more work on an already over worked staff when it is so easily avoidable?

Yes, and how many people have Legendary Skill Hunter but they have had several weekend events offering double experience for Elite Skill Captures?

That's for the hole world, not just for basic tutorial areas.

And the XP is an extra for doing something different: Capture skills.

Not for just plain kills.

Many good reasons posted above. I side with the /notsigned group, this sounds like an idea for LDoA and Survivor people, the first would still take month's, therefore being useless, the second already can be done easy enough with brawling or hfff.

To clarify. The op's suggestion would effect the level ten pre-searing bosses in a way that a character could level up completely and achieve LDoA without having to lose the survivor title.

For all the above posters who claim there are no benefits to gaining additional experience, what about skill points? Even if you have everything you want on your character, consider purchasing some consumables, which are of course in high demand, in order to make some extra money. I remember a couple months ago someone was selling stars of transference here on Guru at a decent price. At 2k a star (if I remember correctly) he sold anywhere from 1 to hundreds at a time, making a huge profit while using up his unused skill points. Don't say experience means nothing to level twenty characters =P

While I like the idea of the experience weekend, as written I believe this suggestion is flawed, in that it would allow players to receive both the Survivor and LDoA titles on the same character. A system where you gain experience as if you were under the effect of a scroll could net the exact same effect, yet prevent characters from gaining experience from monsters more than five levels below as the current system functions. For those interested, below is the experience formula:

It would be nice to see a new weekend event in the rotation

I'd be happier if they just gave us a slightly faster way of leveling pre-searing characters than death-leveling, which is grinding at its finest.

I say they just slap a dungeon-quest in front of the Catacombs, add one or two level-20 bosses in there, maybe bump the party-size up to 4, and BAM! We all have a new reason to make a Pre character, and people aren't wasting their internet time letting moa birds kill them.

To everyone saying that this would exclude a number of players. How is x2 Cap, 2x HA/AB/RA/TA/SS/LB any different? I never do the HA because I don't like competitive PvP that makes me excluded. Some people don't even got HA unlocked.

Songbringer
"Having just a pre-searing weekend is very bias to all the players who don't own Prophecies"

Well I don't see how it's different to x2 AB? That req Factions. SS/LB req NF.

Back on topic:
/signed, when was the last time pre-searing ever got an update? Just because it's a tutorial area doesn't mean there isn't a community that care :/

Another good point, many of the game's few devoted players spend an extraordinary amount of time in pre-searing. The community is also a lot nicer in pre-searing, with frequent giveaways of useful items, including weapons, dyes, and the collector drops required for armor. The pre-searing community is very much alive, and has been calling for pre-searing updates for years

No. If you want LDoA or Survivor grind it out like everyone who already got them did.

I agree with the above post. While I think that pre could maybe use something new (it was always one of my favorite areas as well, everything seems much nicer there including the players.) I dont think that that something should cheapen the value of LDoA and piss off the people who spent a long long time getting it the regular way.

As for survivors: They already have it easy enough with Kilroy runs ect...

I would be in support of a pre weekend or update for sure but just not one like this.

And for people saying no because its "exclusive", thats just not a valid reason. EVERY bonus weekend will exclude someone, I garuntee it.

I don't think it would cheapen the title. It's for only 1 weekend.

But to avoid the whole survivor/LDoA argument, maybe it'd be a x2 xp weekend in pre? (post too?). All that does is making those death levels little faster and regular lvling faster.
